Connecting to the Google Ads to Airtable

In this reference we’ll look at how to pull and keep our Google Ad campaing performance synced to Airtable. Do do this we’ll use the SyncWith extension available in the Airtable marketplace

Connecting Google Ads to Airtable

  1. Install Syncwith if you haven’t

  1. Open the SyncWith extension
  1. Click New report or click Google Ads

  1. A new tab will open in your browser to configure your connector
  1. If you selected Google Ads you’ll jump right into the configuration screen
  1. If you selected New report you’ll see a list of many api services as well as the ability to search
  1. Search for google

  1. Select Google Ads
  1. You’ll now see the configuration screen

Connecting the Google Ads API to Airtable

You’ll see a configuration screen like the following:

Authentication

  1. Click Connect an account
  1. You’ll run through an OAuth flow with Google to give SyncWith access to your Google Ads account

  1. Select the customer you want to report on in the Customer drop down

Choose a Reporting Time Frame

You can choose from a wide range of default reporting time frames as well as dynamic ones. Some marketers and agencies might report on the last 21 weeks of data. You may or may not want to see the current day in the reporting period.
All are possible with the date range picker. Popular options include:
  • Last 30 days
  • Last 90 days
  • Last Month, Last 3 Months
  • Month to Date
You may create multiple connections with different date ranges, for instance if you’re building a dashboard you might want to know your total ad spend in the last month, 3 months and year. You can create 3 queries to pull each of these numbers.

Choosing Your Dimensions

Dimensions are important if you want to pivot your data to see how different groups of users perform, for example:
  • I want to see how my campaigns and ad groups perform across device and country to prune the campaigns
  • I want to split out by keyword match type to see how Google is optimizing relevant keywords chosen
  • I want to compare ad sets within a campaign
  • I want to differentiate between the performance of different ad types in my campaigns

Choosing Your Metrics

Now that you’ve selected the dimensions you want to report along - eg the things you’re interested in. Now you need to choose what you want to know about them.
For SEM campaigns that’s probably Cost, Clicks, Impressions, Conversions, CTR or perhaps things like Phone Calls or Engagements.

Creating a Table

  1. Click the Save button

  1. SyncWith will begin creating the connection, creating a new table in the base and importing the requested data, you see the Save button grey out and change to Saving

  1. Once complete the configuration tab will close and your Airtable will be updated

  1. The extension will also add the new report to a list of existing reports, each report has a context menu allowing you to Edit or Delete the report

Refreshing the Google Ads Airtable Connection

In order to refresh your google ads data and sync it to airtable click the Refresh button
