Google Search Console to Google Sheets

Google Search Console Google Sheets integration

Search Console drops anything older than 16 months. Connect it to Google Sheets with SyncWith, pick a property and the fields you report on, and refresh daily or weekly. Set it to add each new day, and your sheet keeps every month Google drops.

Importing Google Search Console website performance into Google Sheets

Easily build custom Google Search Console reports in Google Sheets

The Google Search Console integration gives you the power to slice and dice your website search performance data to get the insights you need for your business.

Keeps every day

New days go in at the bottom and the old ones stay, long after Search Console drops them.

Refreshes on a schedule

Daily at the hour you pick, or weekly. Scheduled reports run in the background.

Query, page, country and device

Group by date, query, page, country, device or search appearance, with clicks, impressions, CTR and position. Filter rows in or out.

Chart and analyze data

Add charts, sparklines and pivot tables right in Google Sheets.

Can't I just export it from Search Console?

For a one-off, yes. The Export button in the Performance report is free and needs nothing installed. But the report's tables show at most 1,000 rows, and you click Export again every time you want new numbers.

If you want a client report that updates itself, that's what we built SyncWith for. It refreshes on a schedule, and the same add-on pulls Google Ads, GA4 and Facebook Ads into the sheet next to your search data.

How do I keep Search Console data longer than 16 months?

Save it somewhere Google doesn't clear. Search Console keeps data for the last 16 months, so this October you can compare against last October, but not the one before.

A scheduled report doesn't fix that on its own. By default, we replace the rows in your sheet on every run, so the sheet only ever holds the date range you picked. Switch the report to Update or add rows as needed instead. Then new rows go in at the bottom, and a row that's already there gets its numbers updated. Add Date as a dimension, and each day gets its own row that stays.

Two years after you start the sheetA timeline from the sheet's first month to 24 months later. Search Console still has only the last 16 months; the first 8 months are gone from it. The sheet, refreshed on a schedule that adds rows, still has all 24 months. Two years after you start the sheetWhat each one still hasSearch ConsoleGoneLast 16 monthsYour sheetAll 24 months06121824Months since you started the sheet

The sheet can't get back what Google has already dropped, so the best day to start one for a client is today.

How do I connect Search Console to Google Sheets?

  1. Install SyncWith from the Google Workspace Marketplace (in Sheets: Extensions > Add-ons > Get add-ons), then open it from the Extensions menu.
  2. Choose Search Console, sign in with the Google account that can see your client's property, and pick the property.
  3. Add Date and Query as dimensions, with clicks, impressions, CTR and position. Set the date range to the last 180 days and run it once.
  4. Set the report to Update or add rows as needed, and change the date range to the last 7 days.
  5. Schedule it daily and pick an hour before your workday starts. The hour is in your local time zone.
  6. Allow background access when SyncWith asks after your first schedule. You only do this once.

Why 7 days and not just yesterday? Search Console data is typically available after 2-3 days, so yesterday's numbers are still filling in when you first pull them. Each run rewrites the last week with Google's final numbers.

With Update or add rows as needed, SyncWith's own sort setting doesn't work the way you'd expect. Sort or pivot on a separate tab instead.

Why don't my query rows add up to the site total?

Google leaves rare queries out of the query rows to protect user privacy, so they add up to less than the site total. For the headline number in a client report, build a second report with Date as its only dimension and use the query tab for the detail. If you ask Claude or ChatGPT about the same data, our Search Console MCP page covers why their answers come out short too.

Can I do this for free?

Yes. The free Hobby plan gives you 35 refreshes a month with no credit card. A refresh is one run of one report, and each Hobby report stops after 35 refreshes. A daily report reaches that in about five weeks, enough to watch the sheet fill in. A weekly report with a 10-day range uses about four refreshes a month, so it runs for about eight months.

On a paid plan you pay for refreshes, not properties, and reports never expire. Business is $24.99 a month for 100 refreshes. A daily report uses about 30 refreshes a month, so three client sites on a daily schedule use about 90 of the 100. See all plans.
