Google Ads to Google Sheets

Google Ads Google Sheets integration

Put every Google Ads account you manage in one Google Sheet: one account, a handful of clients, or a whole manager account (MCC). SyncWith pulls the spend, clicks and conversions you report on and refreshes them on a schedule you pick, from every 5 minutes to monthly.

Importing Google Ads performance into Google Sheets

Easily build custom Google Ads reports in Google Sheets

The Google Ads integration gives you the power to slice and dice your Google ad accounts data to get the insights you need for your business.

Every account, or the whole MCC

Pick one account, several, or a manager account and get every client account under it, in one report or separate ones.

Refreshes on a schedule

Every 5 minutes, hourly, daily, weekly or monthly. Scheduled reports run in the background, so the numbers are in the sheet before you open it.

Down to keyword and match type

Campaign, ad group, keyword and match type, with clicks, impressions, CTR, average CPC, cost, conversions and cost per conversion.

Chart and analyze data

Use the power of Google Sheets to add charts, sparklines, pivot tables and more

Google's free add-on or SyncWith?

Google makes a free Google Ads add-on for Sheets. It builds a report, refreshes it, and can put it on a schedule. Google's own help page also lists what it won't do:

  • One Google Ads account per spreadsheet.
  • English-language Google Sheets only, and only in the United States.
  • Whoever refreshes or edits a report has to be signed in to the same Google account that created it.

If you run ads for clients, that means one spreadsheet per client and reports only you can refresh. Outside the US, you can't use it at all. We built SyncWith for client work:

  • Any number of accounts, from any number of Google logins, in one report or in separate ones.
  • A manager account (MCC) as a whole, or broken out by customer account. Add a client to the MCC and they show up on the next refresh, without touching the report.

Set up a Google Ads report that's ready every morning

Here's the setup we'd use for a daily client report. For the install itself, with screenshots, see our walkthrough on how to export Google Ads to Google Sheets.

  1. Install SyncWith from the Google Workspace Marketplace (in Sheets: Extensions > Add-ons > Get add-ons), then open it from the Extensions menu.
  2. Connect your Google Ads login and pick the accounts, or the manager account.
  3. Choose your fields, for example day and campaign with cost, clicks and conversions. Set the date range to the last 180 days and run it once to load the history.
  4. Change the date range to the last 2 days and set the report to Update or add rows as needed, so each run adds new rows and updates existing ones instead of replacing the whole sheet. You keep the history without pulling 180 days of the same data again every morning.
  5. Schedule it daily and pick an hour before your workday starts. The hour is in your local time zone.
  6. Allow background access when SyncWith asks after your first schedule. You only do this once.

Once it runs, you can track each client's spend against their budget with the pacing sheet in our Google Ads reporting guide.

What you can report on

  • Google Ads dimensionsDimensions Custom reports that you pull can be grouped by dimensions to summarize. Pivot the data by dimensions to get a different view of the data. Dimensions include: date, campaign, adgroup, keyword, ad, demographics (age, gender, country etc), platform and more.
  • Google Ads metricsMetrics Choose the key metrics to report on, including: spend, impressions, clicks, CTR, conversions, cost per conversion, and more.
  • Google Ads capabilitiesSorting and filtering Quickly filter by campaign to track the performance of a particular campaign. Filter by many dimensions to slice and dice the data, sort by any metric to see the best and worst performing campaigns.
  • Google Ads Performance MaxPerformance Max Performance Max campaigns report by campaign or asset group. They don't show up when you add the ad group or ad dimensions, so leave those out of a Performance Max report.

Google Ads next to your other ad channels

Most client reports need more than Google Ads. Suppose you want one row per channel per day with yesterday's spend and clicks from Google Ads, Facebook Ads and LinkedIn Ads. Build one SyncWith report per channel with day, cost and clicks, each on its own tab and all on the same daily schedule. Then add a summary tab where your own formulas stack the three tabs into one table, one row per channel per day. Each platform names its columns a little differently (Facebook Ads calls it Spend, Google Ads calls it Cost), so map them once when you build the summary.

SyncWith also connects Facebook Ads, LinkedIn Ads, Microsoft Ads, TikTok Ads, Pinterest Ads and Snapchat Ads, plus GA4 and Shopify for what happens after the click.

What it costs

You pay for refreshes, not accounts. A refresh is one run of one report, however many accounts it covers, so a daily report on a whole manager account uses about 30 refreshes a month. The free Hobby plan gives you 35 a month with no credit card, so you can try the setup above on a real client. The Business plan is $24.99 a month for 100 refreshes, and paid reports never expire. That covers the three daily channel reports above, at about 90 a month. See all plans.
